Becks needs games in his bid for Gold

David Beckham has his heart set on winning gold for team GB at next summer's Olympics in London and says he must be playing regularly in 2012 in order to be ready to lead the side to glory in just under 12 months.

Becks is currently weighing up his options with his current LA Galaxy contract set to expire next month and there are a clutch of clubs, both in England and abroad, willing to do battle for his signature. Those looking at football betting sites will be wondering will be keeping an eye on his decision.

Leicester boss Sven Goran Eriksson has made it clear he wants the former England man to turn out for the Foxes in the Championship while Spurs and Blackburn of the Premier League have also been linked with him recently.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star will be free to join a new club from January although he says he could yet stay with the MLS side. Central to Beckham's plans, however, will be how much game-time he is guaranteed wherever he is playing and big-spending French side Paris Saint-Germain are also very keen.

Beckham, now 37, admits to being "amazed" at the amount of interest in him at the twilight of his career and he will take his time to decide his next move.

"I have had a lot of offers and I must say that I'm amazed that, at my age, I have had so many. Its been a bit of a surprise," he told the Daily Telegraph.

"What will actually happen next I still can't say, but what is very important in the decision in terms of what I do, be it staying here, or going to PSG or wherever, is that I get enough time on the pitch because I want to be part of the Olympics.

"I've made no secret of that. Even to be in the team would be incredible. To be part of that Olympic spirit and to be able to win gold for Britain would be the ultimate [goal] for me."
