At 2-1 down England score a goal which is not seen by the linesman or ref. The same linesman who gave Rooney offside incorrectly when clear through on goal, as he received the ball from a German. This latter point doesn't seem to have been discussed on the TV to my knowledge. Was that linesman competent???

Pre Slovenia match pictures and what England need to do
Here's the "low down". England win they progress to the next round. Whether they finish top or second will depend on the result of the USA v Algeria game. If USA and Algeria draw and England v Slovenia is a draw England can progress if they score at least 3 more goals than USA on the day. E.g. Eng 3 v Slo 3 and USA 0 v Alg 0. In the event of 2 more goals on the day compared to USA, I believe the team which progresses out of USA and England will be decided by a "lucky draw" tombola style. So 3-0 at half time to England please.....

England Squad for South Africa
The England Squad for the 2010 World Cup Finals in South Africa is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), David James (Portsmouth), Robert Green (West Ham).
Defenders: Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Ledley King (Tottenham), John Terry (Chelsea), Matthew Upson (West Ham), Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa).
Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), James Milner (Aston Villa), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City).
Forwards: Peter Crouch (Tottenham), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United).
UPDATE: Michael Dawson (Tottenham) to replace Rio Ferdinand.
The omission of Theo Walcott being the biggest surprize. Here is a photo from the qualifiers where his most significant contribution was a hat trick in Zagreb v Croatia in a 1-4 win.
