An easy win with Crouch getting 2 goals and SWP getting 1. Crouch keeps up an impressive strike rate for England, although it would seem always against the lesser footballing nations. It creates healthy competition for places which must be a good thing ahead of the World Cup Finals in 2010. David Beckham curiously won man of the match having come on as sub and only played 31 mins, a political point being made for his inclusion in the squad for South Africa???

England loose 100% record in Ukraine

The final score being 1-0 to Ukraine, a result which wasn't helped by Robert Green's sending off after 13 mins. I can't help wondering if this result would have occured if England hadn't already qualified - a debating piont for sure.

They say that iffy penalty decisions even themselves out over a season, well not wanting to tempt fate but Wayne Rooney's penalty decission was poor at best. Indeed before that Robert Green was lucky not to be spotted handling the ball outside his area. On a positive note Defoe cannot seem to stop scoring and is the hot team selection talking point before the Croatia game. Surely he must start the game!
